This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic post-graduate researcher with a keen interest in a research or clinical career to work with an eminent research group as a full-time researcher on project aiming to develop a delirium core outcomes set for older adults (65 and over) living in nursing or residential care homes or living in their own homes and defined as at risk of delirium. Our specific objectives are to: Identify trial outcomes (what to measure) and outcome measures (how to measure); Identify additional outcomes relevant through engagement with key stakeholder groups (patients and family members, clinicians, and researchers) and gain consensus on COS for studies of interventions to prevent or treat delirium irrespective of study population.

You would be joining an inter-disciplinary mutually supportive, values-based team, focused primarily on research but also on cutting edge research-informed teaching and knowledge transfer. We are seeking an applied researcher who is passionate about applied research with older people.

The post holder will be skilled and experienced to lead the execution of this study working with the local team spread over several different institutions and the wider team across the UK. The researcher will be required to facilitate ethics applications, conduct one to one interviews with people affected by delirium, and health care professionals. The post holder will lead the development and conduct multiple rounds of a DELPHI survey patient and public involvement exercises. They will also spend part of their time supporting colleagues at both the Centre for Applied Dementia Studies to develop research funding applications. We seek experience of qualitative data collection, and analysis and knowledge of delirium and good writing skills. The individual will be required to have excellent organisation and communication skills, experience of working within health care settings and with health care professionals
