德国马克思普朗克分子细胞生物学和遗传学研究所2021年招聘博士后职位(纳米体研发)

Postdoctoral Position | Nanobody Discovery

MAX-PLANCK GESELLSCHAFT

Description

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden, Germany, is an international research institute focused on cell and developmental biology. Currently about 500 employees are working at the institute, where half are from abroad with 53 nations represented. MPI-CBG has twice been awarded the title “Best Place to Work” (Academia and postdocs) by the journal “The Scientist”.

We are offering a postdoctoral position in Nanobody Discovery.

The Geertsma Lab at the MPI-CBG, Dresden, is looking for a postdoc with expertise in the selection and engineering of camelid single-domain antibodies. The candidate will be part of an ambitious multidisciplinary Research Unit studying SLC26 membrane transporters across biological scales.

Background

Binders, such as antibodies, are indispensable research tools for the detection and manipulation of proteins, yet antibodies with the desired specificity and affinity are often not available. This is especially true for compact membrane transporters like the Solute Carrier families. Research in the Geertsma lab focuses on the development of nanobodies as enabling technology for our studies on Solute Carriers 1-4. As part of the DFG Research Unit FOR5046 that will perform an integrated analysis on anion transporters of the Solute Carrier family 26 (SLC26), the successful candidate will generate camelid single-domain antibodies (nanobodies and synthetic nanobodies) for imaging and modulation of protein activities.

Your qualifications

Candidates should have a PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology or a related field. Strong experience in display technologies (such as phage display or ribosome display), molecular cloning (e.g., the generation of immune or synthetic libraries), and the biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions (SPR, ITC, DSF, etc.) is highly desirable. Experience in (membrane) protein production and purification, directed evolution, and computational analysis of antibody sequences would be an advantage. The successful candidate holds strong troubleshooting skills and efficiently interacts with members of an interdisciplinary team of cell biologists, biochemists, and clinicians, can work in a competitive international environment, and possesses excellent English communication skills (written and oral).

Our offer

This full-time position is available immediately and applications will be reviewed on receipt. This position is affiliated to a 3-year DFG grant part of Research Unit FOR5046 on the Integrated analysis of epithelial SLC26 anion transporters - from molecular structure to pathophysiology. We especially encourage women to apply.

For further information contact Dr. Eric Geertsma by email geertsma@mpi-cbg.de

Application

The Max Planck Society strives for gender and diversity equality. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.

Please submit your complete application and CV including a full publication list, a cover letter stating your motivation to apply for this position, a brief description of your research interests and accomplishments together with contact details of at least two referees as a single pdf file by April 11th, 2021 stating Code 2021-PostDoc-4050 via our online application system .
