Idaho National Laboratory is currently seeking forward-thinking, early career researchers for an appointment in the Distinguished Postdoctoral Research Associate program:

The Russell Heath Distinguished Postdoctoral Research Associate (15543) appointment is awarded to early career scientists and engineers with interest in advancing the fields of nuclear energy, critical infrastructure protection, and clean energy deployment. Ideal candidates have exceptional talent, scientific track records, and potential for significant achievements. This appointment may support candidates represented broadly by the fields of nuclear engineering, material science, computational science, separations science, power engineering, wireless technology, or systems analysis.

The DeslondedeBoisblanc Distinguished Postdoctoral Research Associate (15544) appointment is awarded to early career nuclear scientists and engineers to perform leading-edge research and development for Advanced Power Reactor Design and Development as well as to support Operations, Safety, Fuel Management, Experiment Management and other pertinent activities associated with INL research reactor facilities used to support Advanced Reactor Development. The position requires in-depth knowledge of computational and experimental reactor physics, core design optimization, nuclear instrumentation and thermal-fluids science, as well as experience with established and well-validated reactor analysis tools such as, but not limited to, RELAP, MCNP5, HELIOS, SCALE, and Serpent.

The Glenn T. Seaborg Distinguished Postdoctoral (GTSI-INL) program (15542) is designed to nurture early career Ph.D. scientists and engineers with the focus being specifically on the actinide elements in support of nuclear energy, nuclear fuel cycle, waste treatment, and proliferation topics.

This is an annual call posting, which means this is the only time this year that this posting will be open for applications. The interview and selection process will take place during Spring 2021 with selections announced in Summer 2021. Multiple selections may be made with positions scheduled to start Fall 2021.
