丹麦奥尔胡斯大学2021年招聘博士后职位(电催化剂表面科学研究)

Postdoc in Surface Science studies of Electrocatalysts

Applicants are invited to submit their application for a postdoctoral position in experimental surface science and electrochemistry at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at University of Aarhus, Denmark.

The position is for 21 months and is available from 1 March 2021 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Job description

You will be expected to carry out research within experimental characterization of electrochemically relevant catalysts, and the development of new equipment for such research. The successful candidate will be joining a research project seeking to understand the fundamental atomic-scale properties of electrochemically active heteroatom-doped carbon materials for CO2 conversion. The project is based at the research group of Jeppe V. Lauritsen at iNANO, but it will also involve collaboration with several groups at iNANO, Dept. of Chemistry and international collaboration partners. The main working method involves surface science studies of model systems using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) combined with synchrotron photoemission experiments.

Your profile

Applicants for the postdoc position should hold a recent PhD degree in materials science, nanoscience, physics, chemisty or equivalent disciplines with a successful and documented scientific record.

We will be looking for a highly motivated candidate with solid experience in experimental surface science studies, UHV-based scanning tunneling microscopy or extensive experience in surface characterization within electrochemistry. Since the project involves development and application of an electrochemistry cell on a UHV-STM and a synchrotron beamline, it will be an strong advantage if you can document technical skills within handling of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) equipment, development work at a synchrotron beamline, and experience in experimental electrochemistry.

Who we are

The project is carried out in the experimental surface science group at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Aarhus University. The group commands a range of experimental surface science techniques including a large activity on scanning probe microscopy. The group is also active users of synchrotrons, including the local ASTRID2 light sources at Aarhus University and the nearby MAX-IV facility in Lund, Sweden. The group is also associated with the Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT), which integrates a diverse range of basic and applied materials research areas across departments.

The iNANO Center (www.inano.au.dk) is a major research and education center hosting more than 40 skilled senior scientists, ~100 post docs and ~120 PhD students. The center combines expertise and faculty from physics, chemistry, molecular biology and medicine to carry out world-class interdisciplinary research. iNANO offers a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with many industrial, national and international collaborators. The project will also be supported by the newly established Integrated Materials Research Center (iMAT) at Aarhus University.

What we offer

The successful candidate is offered a position in a thriving and inspiring research group that investigates the fundamental properties of a wide range of renewable energy materials. The group has access to several state-of-the-art surface science platforms that enable a strong microscopy and spectroscopy characterization of the materials. The candidate will join a research climate inviting lively, open and critical discussion within and across different fields of research and a working environment with teamwork, close working relations, network activities among young scientists and social activities. The workplace is characterized by professionalism, equality and a healthy work-life balance.

Place of Work

The place of work is the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University, Gustav Wieds Vej 14, Aarhus, and the area of employment is Aarhus University with related departments.

Contact Information

Further information about the position may be obtained from / For further information please contact: Assoc. Prof Jeppe V. Lauritsen, jvang@inano.au.dk, Tel:23382369.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Letter of reference

If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf, please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information, and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter of reference before the application deadline. Unfortunately, it is not possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the application deadline will be taken into consideration.

Formalities and salary range

Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Guidelines for applicants can be found here.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities.

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their personal background. Research activities will be evaluated in relation to actual research time. Thus, we encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities, in order to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity.
