Full time starting salary is normally in the range £30,942 to £40,322. With potential progression once in post to £42,792 a year

Background
To create and contribute to the creation of knowledge by undertaking a specified range of activities within an established research programme and/or specific research project.
This post is for a PDRA Grade 7 in the research project PRE-CAX. The PRE-CAX project (Predicting future climate extremes in China by blending predictive performance of generalized linear models with causal network discovery) will investigate the potential improvement and development of tools for climate services to future extremes.
Role Summary
•Work within specified research grants and projects and contribute to writing bids
•Operate within area of specialism
•Analyse and interpret research findings and results
•Contribute to generating funding
•Contribute to licensing or spin out deals with demonstrated commercial success (such as revenues, asset or company sales, IP generated) and/or public understanding of the discipline or similar
Main duties and responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required
•BSc / MSc in Meteorology, or a neighbouring discipline with
•Experience in meteorology and climate sciences.
•PhD in a related field
•Experience in meteorological data analysis (in particular extreme value analysis);
•Scientific programming skills (e.g., in Linux/Unix environment, FORTRAN, R, etc.
•Knowledge of dynamic meteorology;
•Writing of scientific publications;
•Teaching at university level, including support for supervision of BSc, MSc, and PhD thesis
