多伦多大学2019年博士后招聘(纤维化与癌症研究)
多伦多大学纤维化与癌症研究博士后招聘
One funded postdoctoral position at the University of Toronto (Department of Medicine) is available in the lab of Dr. Darren Yuen.
Dr. Yuen is an Assistant Professor, with a lab that opened in 2013 at St. Michael’s Hospital, an academic institution fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Our major interest is in the regulation of fibrosis, with a particular focus on how mechanical and chemical properties of extracellular matrix regulate the function of fibroblasts (and other cells). Other interests include the non-invasive imaging of these same processes, in both animals and humans. A new but growing interest is how fibrosis regulates cancer progression.
We are funded currently by grants from CIHR, NSERC, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Canadian National Transplant Research Program, the Ontario Ministry for Research and Innovation, and the Banting and Best Diabetes Centre. Dr. Yuen takes an active interest in career planning for his trainees, meeting with each one-on-one on a weekly basis, in addition to a larger weekly lab meeting and a monthly city-wide journal club. For more information about our lab, please visit our website: http://dayuenlab.wordpress.com.
Potential projects will revolve around the study of how extracellular matrix drives disease processes, including fibrosis and cancer. The applicant will be responsible for taking a leading role in his/her projects. He/she will have the opportunity to work closely with the PI (Dr. Yuen), and a team made up of 2 research technicians, 3 clinical research coordinators, 4 postdoctoral fellows, and several graduate students. The lab already has established expertise in standard cell and molecular biology techniques, as well as advanced imaging (microscopy, ultrasound, MRI) and biomechanical techniques (atomic force microscopy). You will also be working with world class collaborators in Toronto. These projects will offer a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary training, as they sit at the crossroads between bioengineering, imaging, developmental biology, and adult tissue repair/regeneration.
Our lab is based at the University of Toronto, a leading publicly funded University based in the fifth largest city in North America. U of T houses more than 7000 full time faculty members and has more than $1.2 billion in annual research funding. Accordingly, multiple opportunities for collaboration exist within St. Michael’s Hospital and the larger University of Toronto community.
Qualified candidates must hold a PhD and have significant experience in molecular and cell biology. Experience with molecular biology (cloning, luciferase assays, qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, CRISPR/Cas, etc.), sequence analysis, database searches, cell culture, cell and tissue staining/imaging are essential. Knowledge and prior work/experience with rodent disease models, and high throughput transcriptomics (RNA-seq) and associated bioinformatic analysis are also strongly preferred. We are looking for candidates with excellent communication skills, as well as a strong desire for career development.
Interested applicants should send a single PDF file containing a cover letter, CV, a one page summary of research skills and interests highlighting relevance to the above research project, and contact information for 3 references to Dr. Darren Yuen (darren.yuen@utoronto.ca). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.Employment of the successful candidate will be contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check.
